Immigration Categories We Handle

Canada's 4 main immigration pathways, explained

Every Canada PR application falls under one of these four categories. Our ICCRC-associated consultants assess your profile against each before recommending a route — here's what each one actually means.

Federal · Express Entry

FSWP

Federal Skilled Worker Program. For skilled professionals with foreign work experience in eligible NOC categories, ranked through Express Entry's CRS.

  • Minimum 1 year continuous skilled work experience
  • Language, education & age scored under CRS
  • No job offer required in most cases
Check my FSWP eligibility
Federal · Express Entry

FSTP

Federal Skilled Trade Program. Built for tradespeople — electricians, welders, chefs, plumbers and similar hands-on occupations Canada needs.

  • Valid job offer or certificate of qualification
  • 2 years' full-time trade experience in 5 years
  • Lower CRS threshold than FSWP

Federal · Express Entry

CEC

Canadian Experience Class. For candidates who already have skilled Canadian work experience — often the fastest route to PR.

  • 1 year skilled work experience inside Canada
  • No proof of settlement funds required
  • Highest ITA success rate of the three streams

Provincial

PNP

Provincial Nominee Program. A province or territory nominates you based on its own labour needs, adding 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile.

  • 10 provinces & territories, each with its own streams
  • Best fit if your federal CRS score falls short
  • Often faster for in-demand regional occupations

Common Questions

Canada PR — Frequently Asked

What's the difference between FSWP, FSTP and CEC?

All three are managed through Express Entry. FSWP is for skilled professionals with foreign work experience, FSTP is for certified tradespeople, and CEC is for candidates who already have skilled work experience inside Canada. Each has its own eligibility criteria but shares the same CRS ranking pool.

What's the difference between Canada PR and citizenship?

PR lets you live, work and study anywhere in Canada and access healthcare and education — everything except voting rights and a Canadian passport, which come with citizenship after you meet residency requirements.

How is my CRS score calculated?

Age, education, language proficiency (IELTS/CELPIP/TEF) and skilled work experience are scored under the Comprehensive Ranking System. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to your total.

Should I apply through Express Entry or a PNP?

If your CRS score is already competitive, Express Entry alone is usually faster. If it's below the latest cut-off, a Provincial Nominee Program can add 600 points and effectively guarantee an ITA — we assess both routes during your free consultation.

How long does the process take?

Express Entry profiles can receive an Invitation to Apply within months of a competitive CRS score, with IRCC processing often completing within 6 months of ITA — though this varies by case. PNP timelines vary by province.

Can I include my spouse and children in my application?

Yes. Express Entry and most PNP streams allow you to include your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children in the same application, and their language/education can also add CRS points.

What happens if my application is refused?

We review the refusal reasons with you and offer a refusal-analysis and re-filing service to identify what can realistically be corrected — refusals are usually tied to specific documentation or eligibility gaps, not random chance.

What does Esse India charge for Canada PR?

Fees depend on the visa category and program and are confirmed in writing before you pay anything — ask for the full breakdown of consultation, documentation, filing and government fees at your first meeting.
