Subclass 482 — 3 Streams Explained

The Subclass 482 TSS Visa has three streams, each with different requirements and pathways to PR.

Short-term Stream

For occupations on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). Visa valid for up to 2 years (or 4 years if sponsored by a country with a trade agreement).

2 Years STSOL

Medium-term Stream

For occupations on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). Visa valid for up to 4 years. Pathway to PR after 3 years.

4 Years MLTSSL PR Pathway

Labour Agreement Stream

For employers who have entered into a labour agreement with the Australian government. Specific to certain industries like agriculture, fishing, and meat processing.

Do you qualify for Subclass 482?

To be eligible for the Subclass 482 TSS Visa, you must meet the following minimum requirements.

Requirement 1

Employer Sponsorship

You must have a valid job offer from an approved Australian employer.

  • Employer must be approved as a sponsor
  • Job must be genuine and full-time
  • Employer must meet training requirements
Requirement 2

Occupation & Skills

Your occupation must be on the relevant occupation list and you must have the required skills.

  • Occupation on STSOL or MLTSSL
  • Relevant qualifications or experience
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
Requirement 3

Language

Minimum Competent English (IELTS 5.0 each).

  • IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, or OET accepted
  • Higher scores may give more opportunities
  • Labour Agreement stream may have different requirements
